About MeHi, my name is Emmanuel and I am 52 years old.
I have been on uninterrupted dialysis for 20 years and currently reside in Cape Town, South Africa. I started off with peritoneal dialysis for the first year (1995) but moved on to hemodialysis for various reasons. I have been on home dialysis for the majority of the 20 years, which definitely makes it easier to cope with. I have been self employed in food related business all my life and have coped with dialysis and a minimum of 30 operations over the last 40 years including two failed kidney transplants. |
I have created this blog to help people with many questions that are either on dialysis or have family or friends on dialysis. I often meet people at dialysis units that want to ask me questions and/or advice after hearing that I have been on dialysis for such a lengthy period. I remember when I started dialysis, I was very nervous and I could never get all the answers that I was looking for which would have definitely helped me.
My wife is a dedicated clinical technologist and has spent her most of her working life so far in dialysis.
